Since a couple of months, it takes ages for our toilet to fill back up after you flush it, how can we fix it?

We had a combi boiler fitted about a year ago and we do live in an area with very hard water, could the supply pipe be blocked with limescale or dirt or something? and if yes, how do you clean it out?

Normally this problem is caused by the inlet valve becoming clogged or failing. If this is the case, then the simplest solution is to replace the cistern inlet valve.

Isolate the supply to the cistern and remove the ballcock assembly and replace the rubber diaphram and clean all parts. whilst the fitting is off have a look and see if the feed pipe is blocked in any way. You would probably benefit from using a limescale inhibitor fitted to your mains water pipe, and these can be picked up fairly cheaply from screwfix. If you need to i can be contacted on my WorkBidder webpage any time. Thanks bill

There could be a number of probs. check the toilet cistern and where the water comes into the cistern could be limescaled up. isolate water supply to toilet and replace faulty unit.

Turn off the water supply to the property dismantle the ball valve and check to see if there is no lime scale built up in the ball valve or alternativly just chamge the ball valve, these can be purchased fro any plumbers merchants, screwfix or b & q store.
