Often when I turn on my bathroom taps they seem to shake and I hear a banging noise, what could this be?

I think it seems to happen more often with one tap rather than the other. I think it's the hot tap.

Water hammer is what it is called Could be a loose washer vibrating in the tap or another tap that you may have in the open position Replacement of the washers in the offending tap causing the problem - check that other taps are not in the on position such as a washing machine tap or dishwasher tap - turn them off & try again if it still does it replace washers in taps Hope this helps?
