When replacing old roof shingles with metal roof shingles it is best to rely on a roofing contractor service. You can follow these few steps when replacing your old roof shingles with metal shingles.

Step 1

You need to measure the dimensions of your roof to determine the length and width of the material required. Your local roofing contractor can assist you with this.

Step 2

You will now need to purchase the needed materials and acquire the necessary tools for the job. It is recommended that you refer to your local roofing contractor to find out about what materials are needed.

Step 3

Find out from a roofing contractor how to correctly use a roofing shovel to remove the old shingles.

Step 4

If there is any damage on the roof itself, you will need to contact a roofing contractor to repair it.

Step 5

You will then need to install the drip edges on the sides of the roof.

Step 6

On one of the edges, install the first metal shingle. Screw down the outside top corner first, but not too tight. Make sure the panel is correctly lined up. Having a roofing contractor do this part is recommended in order to ensure efficiency.

Step 7

Place the next panel slightly over the first towards the center and work your way towards the middle of the roof. Make sure the shingles are straight.

Step 8

Once you have done that, install the last shingle. A roofing contractor will recommend that you have quite an overhang with the last panel.

Step 9

You can repeat the above mentioned steps for the other side of your roof.

Step 10

Once you have placed all the shingles on the roof, place the ridge caps on and screw them down tightly.

Make sure that you have some extra help for this job. You must also check that the weather is fine to work in. You will be able to find a rated roofing contractor on this website. Contractors are able to sign up for free as well to get more work.
